Omilie Dress

Omilie Dress

I was so excited to make this dress and when I say panic struck when I started making it, I mean it! I've really enjoyed seeing mixed patterned pieces lately and have done a few lounge outfits with mixed fabrics (and one skirt) but I think this was the boldest one yet.

This is the Omilie Pattern by Merchant & Mills. If you follow me on TikTok you will know that I love patterns from Merchant & Mills. I have to say, this was the easiest one that I've done from them. Merchant & Mills patterns always have the nicest finishes. This comes with a top view as well. One thing I will say is that this pattern requires A LOT of fabric. I don't use asymmetrical patterns very often so totally didn't notice that pretty much all the pattern pieces said wrong side up and only noticed for two facing pieces (which I had to recut). So technically this dress should button the opposite way, but I think we are none the wiser!

The fabric I got while visiting my sister in Amsterdam this past November with my boyfriend from a super cute shop called A. Boeken Fabric and Notions Shop. The actual fabric is by Verhees Textiles. Both are cotton and of exceptional quality. I found the green fabric with the colorful polka-dots on this UK wesbite and the multi-colored shapes fabric in another colorway there too.

I know this look isn't for everyone but it make me so happy and I can't wait to twirl around in it many many times.
